God’s might is demonstrated in Scripture in many ways. The more difficult the task, the greater the power needed to accomplish it, right? The power of God is that ability and strength whereby He can bring to pass whatsoever He pleases, whatsoever His infinite wisdom may direct, and whatsoever the infinite purity of His will may resolve. We have the completed Scriptures. We don’t have to see God’s mighty power in miracles, we have that very power and more in our lives since the Holy Spirit lives within us! Gen.17:1-8; 15-22 A. El Shaddai supplies the impossible [Vs.1-2] This is the first occurrence of El Shaddai in the Bible. We say to the world, “I don’t know El Shaddai”. In a display of His might, God essentially says to their leader Moses, “No Problem, I’ll make a way for you!” and causes its waters to part so that they could all simply stroll right through the midst of the sea on dry ground. As holiness is the beauty of all God’s attributes, so power is that which gives life and action to all the perfections of the Divine nature. I realize, you might be here this morning and you need God because you have never made the decision to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. The key to this is prayer. And they found out that the Almighty could sustain. Paul reveals in his own life the secret to experiencing God’s power! El Shaddai is bountiful, self-sacrificing love. Proverbs tells us how we should respond to this type of foolish question designed only to demonstrate the “superior intellect” of the one asking the question. Did you catch that? 31 times in Job! Been looking at Genesis the first time a different name of God appears. So, what does it mean that God is almighty? Would you please stand with me for the reading of God’s Word? Do you want to find out that all you need is God? They instantly discovered it was just a wee bit difficult to swim while wearing all their armor for war! As a mother nourishes her children with the milk of her breast, so the Lord our God, El-Shaddai, tenderly nourishes His own elect with the fulness of His Being. Throughout Scripture Israel is repeatedly exhorted to remember this awesome demonstration of God’s power and to teach it to their children. In the midst of all the idolatry (many had idols loaded with breasts), God says, “I am the One who nourishes”. ii. God says if we are going to use the name El Shaddai, then we better believe Him. Send His son as an embryo,  raise that crucifed Son from the dead, He can do anything He wants consistent with His nature, El Shaddai is the Name that connects God’s Mightiness with His Nurturing Goodness, -found 48 times - always translated “Almighty”, Shaddai comes from “shad” - (found 24 times in OT) - translated “breast” specifically a mother’s breast, -Hence, God is the nurturing sustenance who will take care of us, OT  describes many times His kindness is described as a “nursing mother”. ILLUS. And live like people who believe Him. It’s El Shaddai that comes to a 99 year old man who will make him a father. Wow, just meditate on that sometime.
